As a seller, you want to get the best price you can for your items. Choosing an auctioneer is not easy. Here is a checklist to help. Look for auctioneers who:

  • Own their own permanent saleroom

  • Offer frequent, convenient viewing times before the sale

  • Provide ample car parking for buyers and sellers

  • Are easily accessible to motorways, main roads and rail

  • Host their own website with catalogues available to view

  • Feature on external trade websites

  • Supply a printed catalogue

  • Advertise within the trade press

  • Have a clear and defined charging structure

  • Have consultants available

  • Are long established

  • Have a good local reputation

  • Are regulated members of RICS

  • Are supporters of ‘Antiques are Green’ campaign

If the answer is favourable to all of the above, then you should have a successful sale through a reputable auctioneer.
